As the old saying goes, change is the only constant in life. From big life changes, like switching careers or becoming a parent, to small adjustments like a new haircut, change can make us afraid and anxious.

We’re often fearful because change can be out of our control, unsure of what’s in store for the future. Luckily, as Christians, we know that one constant source of encouragement is the Bible. We can turn to scripture for Bible verses about change in order to find comfort and peace during times of transition.

What Does the Bible Say About Change?

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

When we’re facing a change in our life, Jeremiah 29:11 is always a comforting Bible verse. In times of change, we usually become fearful or anxious because we’re not sure of what is going to happen or how everything will unfold. But we can rest in the truth knowing that God does have a plan for us and that He will lead us on the right path when we place our trust in Him.

In the new AFFIRM Originals and Pure Flix exclusive series “Live+Local,” we see Tina, Tommy and Lucy adjusting and reacting to changes in their radio station’s management. All three experience anxiety about what it could mean for their show and their careers. But how they handle the situation with grace and comedy will be sure to inspire and help you as you navigate the changes in your own life.

Tommy and Tina fret about the changes the new program director, Jerry, might make at K-HUGG. They are worried in particularly about their job security. It’s only when they take a breath and remember that God is in charge and that He has a plan, do they find a sense of peace and comfort.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NIV)

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

One thing we can take comfort in is knowing that change is temporary. This scripture on change reminds us that our ultimate goal is eternity and that everything in this life is just preparing us for our eternal life with God.

In "Live+Local," Tommy, Tina and producer Lucy are in different phases of their careers on the morning radio show, "TnT in the Morning." Tommy is a veteran in the radio business, Tina is right on the cusp of her career taking off and Lucy just got her first “big girl” job at the radio station. All three of them are nervous about where their current season of life will take them, but they remember to have hope and trust in God. In order to breathe easier and stay focused on the steps they each must take for their journey, they learn through trial and error to turn to God during times of transition.

Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

When we enter into a season of change, our minds can become crowded with questions that weigh us down or a never-ending to-do list that we get bogged down in the tiny details, growing weary and tired. When we clear our minds and keep our eyes focused on God, we can remember where our hope truly lies. This Bible verse about change comforts us in knowing that our strength for the journey is renewed with God by our side.

The "TnT in the Morning" crew on "Live+Local" have so many questions about every move their new program director, Jerry, makes. They get distracted and bogged down in trying to figure out his motives and what each decision means for their personal trajectory at the station. It’s only when they cast off those small anxious worries and remember to trust that their fears subside.

Ephesians 4:20-24 (NIV)

“That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

Sometimes, change is driven by internal motives rather than external factors. We might evaluate our lifestyle and our choices, and choose to make a change to better our lives, help those around us and ultimately to better serve God. While this still isn’t easy, it’s usually something we feel the Holy Spirit calling us to change in our hearts. He is asking us to have a new mindset, to follow His ways more prudently and to put behind our habits of sin in order to be more fully present to Him.

At K-HUGG in “Live+Local,” Lucy is just starting out as the newest producer of "TnT in the Morning." In her first few shows, we see her fumble while she gets her bearings. She is anxious and overwhelmed by her new role and has to come out of her comfort zone. Over the course of the season, we see her confidence grow and she starts to find her groove. Lucy knew she wanted to better herself and had the desire to grow to find her stride in her work.
