Unemployment trends come and go, and while many people focus on the numbers and associated statistics, it’s easy to forget that there are individuals behind those metrics: People with responsibilities who desperately need prayers for work and prayers for employment.

So, considering the current needs surrounding COVID19 and the millions who have become unemployed as a result of the virus, we decided to put together a list of prayer for finances and prayer for employment.

Prayers for Work: Asking God for Guidance

Losing a job can create panic and fear, so let’s explore some of the ways we can appeal to God to ask for help, guidance and solace amid the struggles:

Prayers for Employment: Seeking God’s Peace

Lord, please help me with my current struggles. I’d like to offer a prayer for peace as I struggle with the loss of my job. Please help meet my needs, and please guide me through. I won’t lie: I’m scared, but I know You are there for me and that You will provide. Please help me in my toughest moment, offering me the peace only You can give. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Prayer for Work: Peace for Families

Lord, please help me amid the loss of my job. Please guide me and give me the peace I need. You know my personal prayers for employment, but please also help my family [my wife, my husband, my kids], as they, too, struggle with the fear and uncertainty that can come along with unemployment. Please grant them peace as we all journey through this uncertain time. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Prayer for Finances: God’s Guidance and Help

God, I am worried about my finances. I pray that You would provide as You always do. Please guide me toward the employment opportunity that You have for me. Please protect me (and my family) as we journey through this uncertainty. From our home to our other bills, please help ensure we have what we need. Lord, losing my job took me by surprise. In this prayer for work, I ask that You would use me as You see fit. Please bring me the job You have for me in Your timing — a job where I can honor You and live out Your call for my life. God, I thank You for the provision and the many things You have given me throughout my life. I trust fully in You that the job You have for me will soon come to fruition.
