You'll Love How this Family Raised Money for Its Adoption

It’s no secret that adoption takes a lot of resources, but one Colorado family has gotten quite creative with their fundraising efforts. From yard sales to haircuts and painting lessons, the Hoekstras’ fundraising efforts were the perfect opportunity to bring a community together to complete a family. Now, the PureFlix.com family is part of that community too!

Watch this family’s reaction as they learn that one of the hardest parts of their adoption journey is over:

Thanks to YOU, the PureFlix.com family, this fun adoption fundraiser for the Hoekstra family was their last one! Your support means that they can focus on bringing baby Hoekstra home from South Korea — and that together, we can continue helping other families through Adopt Together, a crowdfunding platform that helps families raise resources to complete the adoption process.

After having two children of their own, the Hoekstras decided it was time to grow their family. The financial burden caused by adoption can scare a lot of excited families away - but not the Hoekstras. They put their heads together and began fundraising on AdoptTogether.org and in person. The night we interviewed them, they were hosting a “Sip and Paint” event, where their friends learned to paint and enjoyed fellowship with the community that came together to financially and spiritually support the family.

Alyssa Hoekstra told us, “I have always felt like adoption was a calling of mine because I know that there were kids out there who needed a home.”

The Hoekstras struggled to conceive for the first several years of their marriage, that is until they started the adoption process! After their first few meetings to learn about what an adoption journey takes, they conceived their son. Still feeling like God was calling them to adoption, they looked into the process again, only to conceive their daughter! But these special blessings didn’t deter them, and now the Hoekstras are matched with a toddler from South Korea.

Adam Hoekstra told PureFlix.com, ”What has surprised me the most is that it’s not just us. It’s our extended family, it's our friends, it’s all of the people that have helped or prayed for us thus far.”

Adoption is a long, costly journey that few couples can do alone. The Hoekstras chose Adopt Together as the perfect place to start their journey. Donations are tax-deductible and can only be applied towards verified adoption expenses, making it a safe way to give charitably and be assured you’re making a real difference.
