The event, titled, “Alive From New York,” included touching speeches from Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King Jr., “Unplanned” star Ashley Bratcher, pro-life activist Abby Johnson, and former NFL star Benjamin Watson, among others.
Watch highlights from the touching event:
The most talked about moment was the live 4D ultrasound of Johnson’s unborn baby, which was shown on a screen in front of the massive crowd. Here’s how commentator Kevin McCullough described the scene:
“At that very moment [Johnson] was on an examination table in a mobile medical unit behind the stage I was standing next to. For the first time in all my years of Times Square, I will never forget that moment.
In the middle of literally the world’s busiest intersection, a quiet fell across the multiple blocks that was so deafening you could literally have heard a pin drop. No angry chants in protests. No applause of agreement.
Just a sleepy little baby’s face, in beautiful 4D, staring out across New York City’s busiest neighborhoods.”
But there was also another incredible moment that didn’t receive as much attention.
Thousands of people who showed up to defend the unborn joined together in unison to sing “How Great Is Our God.” Watch the incredible moment at the 4:15-mark below:
Focus on the Family put together “Alive From New York” during a time when the abortion debate has hit a fever pitch. Politicians’ recent controversial comments about late-term abortion have sparked outrage and introspection about the meaning and value of life.
And the release of “Unplanned,” a film about Johnson’s journey from Planned Parenthood clinic director to one of the most well-known pro-life activists in the country, has also sparked a great deal of discussion.
