Kingston Lane of Kentucky has struggled since his birth last April. Born at just 24 weeks gestation, the now-10-month-old spent months in the hospital and has faced multiple surgeries, WFIE-TV reported.

While he was eventually able to go home, something tragic happened last week: Kingston fell ill. At first, his mom, Brittany, thought it was a stomach problem, but within 24 hours he was in the emergency room in serious condition.

When baby Kingston's heart started to give out, hospital staff did chest compressions — but it wasn't looking good.

"They were on the ninth one, and they were like, ‘Mrs. Lane, one more time and that’s all we can do for him,'" Lane told WFIE-TV. “He was completely blue, no pulse, no heartbeat and cold. Super cold.”

Kingston was pronounced dead as Lane pleaded for her son to "come back." But in that tragic moment — as medical staff began to walk away, assuming all was said and done — something incredible happened: his pulse returned.

Now, he's on the path to recovery, and his mom is elated.

"I really don’t have any words," Lane said of the events. "It was a miracle. It really was."
